Disabled Persons Railcard

I have just found out about the above card. People in receipt of higher rate Disability Living allowance (Care or Mobility), Attendance Allowance and many other disability allowances are entitled to the Disabled Persons Railcard.  It costs £18 per year and entitles the holder AND their carer (the person accompanying them) to a third off ALL train tickets (including first class) and other benefits.  It works better than a normal railcard that only covers the holder and costs less!  Information can be found at most railway stations and on the internet.

Victim Support -We need enthusiastic people to help Victim Support with new initiative!

I have been asked to include the following which is self explanatory: -

Most people are aware of the name Victim Support, but ask someone what exactly it is we do and people aren’t so sure. People often don’t know we are a charity and that we need vital funds to support services that positively impact on communities throughout the country. We are therefore looking for volunteers to help us to increase local knowledge and raise those much needed funds.  These new volunteers will assist us to reach into communities by helping us to shape our new fundraising focus. We need motivated, enthusiastic and imaginative people who can help us take our ideas and grow them into community events, bringing in the support and awareness we require. We need people who have a passion for making a difference, can be very well organised, are articulate and can be innovative in their approach. If this sounds like you – you can help us to create and organise a calendar of events, be an ambassador by engaging with community groups, create e-letters and other marketing material that will shout about what we do and inevitably help us to sustain, enhance and grow a service that supports on average 1.5 million victims and witnesses of crime per year.

AXA Narpo Travel Group Insurance.

If you have been thinking about travel insurance this scheme takes some beating, according to a number of you who found it in Narpo News.  I can now tell you they have extended the UPPER age to 85.  I am assured cover like this ‘doesn’t grow on trees’.

Innersound Foundation

This is a repeat of my personal comment for those of you who believe in alternative therapy.   I have included it again as I know at least one member here and a few others have found it to be beneficial.  I found this group purely by accident while at an event in Gloucester and was extremely sceptical.  They use Qi Therapy which comes from South Korea and is acupressure (acupuncture massage) with sound resonance.  It sounds peculiar BUT I tried it and was shocked to find that it cured my ‘frozen’ shoulder, something I hadn’t mentioned when filling in the information form. I have tried all sorts to improve my shoulder but it has been fine since the treatment in July.  It also relieves stress and my arthritis as long as you have periodic ‘top ups’.  I am converted!!  It isn’t for everyone but it works for me.  If you would like to find out more about what they do go to www.innersound.org.  where all the information is available, or give me a ring.
