Retirement ‘Do’

I have been asked by John Rust to invite all friends and former colleagues to his Retirement ‘Do’ on Friday 16th March 7pm at Marton Cricket Club (behind the Rudds Arms.)

Golf Membership.

Craig Green has struck a deal I have struck with Saltburn Golf Club.
He needs 25 players from the Police family to join at £200.00 each, this membership commences 1st April this year and last for 15 months, it entitles members to play Monday to Fridays, you will also get a passport providing 2 rounds per person at £8.00 a round at participating clubs(Bedale,Ingelby Barwick,Cleveland and Billingham) within that 15 month period.
At present he has 15 people, so there is room for more.

Retirement on 30+ or normal.

I have been asked what happens if you are called back to court while in the process of retiring.  Here is what ‘SHOULD’ happen!

If you are called for anything up to and including your retirement date you are entitled to full pay for time of attendance.  If, as many are you are using your annual leave to date of retirement, you are entitled to another day off OR pay for that day as you cannot take it before you leave!
Once past date of retirement it is the usual loss of earnings, travel and subsistence like any other witness UNLESS there is some form of local agreement.  I don’t know if we have one.

Hospital Visits – James Cook University Hospital.

I have been reminded that you can save on parking at the above hospital if the patient you are seeing is going to be on a ward for any length of time.  Instead of paying the astronomical daily rate you can obtain an application form from the ward sister where the patient is being cared for and get a permit for £8 for one month or £17.50 for three months.  The completed form has to be taken to the Transport Office (near the jewellery shop) and a permit is issued.  You also have to hand over a £10 deposit returned when the permit is handed in.

Its a bit of a ‘chew’ BUT it makes a big saving if you are visiting every day for more than a couple of days.
