CLEVELAND SSAFA – A local charity supporting serving and ex-service members of the armed forces and their dependants, are in urgent need of volunteers willing to give a little time to a very worthy cause.

The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen’s Families Association – Forces Help offers support to serving and ex-Service personnel and their families in need. Cleveland Branch alone help over 500 people each year. To assist us in giving this essential service, we are in urgent need of volunteers to train as caseworkers, people willing to give a few hours each week to an interesting, worthwhile and very satisfying role.

Caseworkers are the people who actually deal with our clients. Although we are all unpaid, training is provided and expenses paid, so no one is out of pocket. Volunteers, male and female, do not need to have served in the armed forces. Anyone who may be interested, but is unsure of our role or would like more details of the type of work we undertake, is invited to contact us for an informal chat, naturally without any obligation.

We cover the former Cleveland County and operate from TA Centres in Middlesbrough and Stockton. We pride ourselves on being a cheerful and friendly set of people who enjoy a relaxed and informal working atmosphere. We will welcome anyone living in the local area and wishing to give a few hours of time to help us with our important caring task. In addition we are urgently seeking someone with financial experience to undertake the role of Divisional Treasurer at the Middlesbrough office.

I have received the following email which may be of interest to some of you: –

I hope you will forgive an unsolicited e-mail, but we are in a situation where we will be able to offer employment opportunities for retired officers who are interested in delivering training. This is likely to be of interest to some NARPO members. As you will know many police functions are likely to be outsourced in the near future. Whilst this does present some difficulties for serving officers there will doubtless be benefits for retired members to utilise their skills.Sancus Solutions which is owned and managed by former officers is looking to recruit self-employed people with a strong investigative background and experience of delivering training. Some of our roles may involve working abroad.Would you be kind enough to forward this e-mail to your members with a view to anyone who might be interested getting in touch with us. Our website is gives a good idea of how we work.If any NARPO member feels he or she might want to work with us they can send a short CV (two pages will be fine) to Mick Turner, Director Sancus Solutions Ltd Tel 07960 869772 or 0118 990 8000 or

AllPoliceJobs– a revolution in police recruitment! not just another police job site.. It is set to change current thinking on police recruitment for good. For the first time any UK police force can advertise their jobs for free.

Richard Place, Managing Director, says, “The internet has revolutionised our lives and the recruitment sector is no exception.
“The idea behind is simple. The site uses the latest specially-developed software to automatically scoop up all police jobs posted on force websites. It requires no effort on the part of the force and by allowing them to advertise for free, the site is set to save the police service thousands, if not millions of pounds in recruitment advertising.
